Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU)

A twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) is a shipping container with inside dimensions of approximately 20 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 8 feet high. It can hold 9 to 11 pallets, depending on whether they are normal or EUR pallets. Two TEUs have the same capacity as one FEU.

TEU shipping: definition, capacity, and containers.
When scheduling a shipment, you should understand what a TEU is because it is used to calculate your shipping costs. Rates are provided per TEU, thus to get the total cost, multiply the rate per TEU by the number of TEUs in your shipment.

TEU is a measurement used to determine container ship capacity.

TEU vs FEU
TEU refers to containers having a twenty-foot equivalent unit, whereas FEU stands for forty-foot equivalent units.

Both phrases represent the size of a shipping container and are used to standardize measurements of the volume being shipped. For example, if you delivered two 20FT containers and one 40FT container, you shipped four TEU (or two FEU).
